The Euphorbia trigona 'Royal Red', commonly known as the Red African Milk Tree, is a striking succulent-like plant prized for its structural, upright growth and deep burgundy-bronze coloration. Though it resembles a cactus, it is actually a member of the Euphorbia family, featuring three-sided stems lined with small thorns and teardrop-shaped leaves that turn vibrant red in bright light.
Quick Care
Placement/Light: Bright direct to bright indirect light; more light produces deeper red colors.
Water: Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings.
Soil: Well-draining cactus or succulent potting mix.
Temp: Prefers warm temperatures between 65°F and 85°F.
Humidity: Low humidity; avoid misty or damp environments.
Feeding: Apply a balanced fertilizer at half-strength during the growing season.
About This Plant
This "Red Trigona" is a fast-growing architectural plant that adds height and a pop of dark color to any indoor garden. Its vertical growth habit makes it an excellent choice for corners or narrow spaces. Please note that like all Euphorbias, it contains a milky white sap that can be irritating to the skin and eyes.
